Flyer, a 135 Cu. Hydroplane
Designed by Bruce N. Crandall approx. 1936. Flyer is the largest of the Crandall hydroplanes, Class C 135 Cu.
Flyer has also been mistaken or known as Miss Shepherd and A 10. Anyone with more info on this can email me and advise me otherwise.
I have redrawn every frame from original line drawings and table of offsets to reproduce Flyer into an easily assembled boat.
At a glance:
There are some 15 frames, 2 keels, twin hatch assembly, vertical cleats, gas tank fixing, drivers bench seat, breast hook , front and rear stems with knees etc. Flyer was originally built using 9.5mm planking 3/8” so all frames have been designed to this.
Plans can also be scaled up or down to provide say a 1:10 model that will measure 15” overall, ideal for remote model racing.
These plans are provided in Adobe PDF format for viewing and printing on any machine.
If you have access to large printers take a copy of the files and print away. You can then use the full size sheets to lay out the full size pieces! No Lofting, no measuring and no mistakes.
Included on the CD:
1:1 plans in Adobe form
DXF files of frames for either laser or router cutting
Viewer to print, scale and view DXF files
Below are images sent by Tom of his Flyer underway.
